VC (series A/B) firm based in Chicago that invests in tech companies in/around the industries of RE, finance, insurance and sustainability. The firm just successfully closed their third fund and as a result, are seeking an Assoc/Sr Assoc hire to join the team

Sourcing and Assessing New Deals
The Associate/Senior Associate will source and assess new deals/investment opportunities for the Fund. Responsibilities to include:

Sourcing and Assessing New Deals
The Associate/Senior Associate will source and assess new deals/investment opportunities for the Fund. Responsibilities to include:
- Identify high potential investment opportunities by building relationships with VC peers and operating companies
- Build deal pipeline by generating company target lists from thematic research of compelling investment themes
- Perform due diligence including:
- Analyze target companies and their industries by understanding competitive dynamics, market drivers, business models, opportunities and risks, Vet and build sensitized detailed financial operating and returns models
- Run comparable company analyses
- Speak with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders of target investments
- Help prepare detailed investment memoranda alongside Principals/Partners for approval by the investment committee
Portfolio Company Support
The Associate/Senior Associate will help portfolio companies be successful. Responsibilities to include:
- Work with companies, partners and investors to help grow value of the underlying portfolio and create opportunities for our industry and venture network
- Regularly track portfolio company performance Monitor and record financial and qualitative performance of portfolio companies on a quarterly basis
- Track fund returns in conjunction with fund administrator
Qualifications and Qualities of an Ideal Candidate:
- Two to four years of work experience at a leading investment bank, management consulting firm or private investment firm with in-depth financial modeling and presentation writing experience
- Excellent financial modeling, analytical skills and ability to understand business models
- Sophisticated, fact-based understanding of SaaS metrics, web-based analytics and business growth strategies
- Personal interests in technology and investing
- Exemplary interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Chicago-based or willingness to relocate to Chicago
