Merchant Banking Analyst and Associate
The firm offers candidates a unique environment which combines a highly entrepreneurial platform focused on engaging and strategic M&A, and the successful candidate will be highly involved in live deals from the onset. Successful candidates will be expected to assume a substantial amount of responsibility and quickly begin participating in client-facing activities. Candidates will not be limited by their title and will be allowed to assume far greater levels of responsibility and compensation as they demonstrate their capabilities.
The Associate will be involved in all facets of the firm's investment banking activities and will play an integral role supporting the origination and execution of mergers and acquisitions assignments for clients and on their portfolio companies.
The specific responsibilities of the Senior Analyst / Associate include, but not limited to:
· Complex financial modeling and valuation analyses
· Conducting comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research
· Drafting detailed memoranda and presentations describing key attributes of client companies
· Participating in due diligence sessions
· Managing several projects at once and working effectively as an individual and as part of a team
· Regular interaction with clients (willingness to travel is a must)
· Developing marketing and pitch materials
Requirements:
· Live in, or ability to relocate to, Santa Monica, CA
· 1-3 years of directly related investment banking or corporate M&A experience required
· Consumer, Retail or Real Estate experience is a plus, but not required
· Bachelor’s degree with outstanding academic achievement preferably in fields of finance, economics, engineering, computer science, or related field
· High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (CapitalIQ plug-in), PowerPoint, and Word
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong leadership and team working capabilities
· Superior work ethic and multi-tasking skills
· Professional maturity and experience to interact directly with client and drive execution of transactions
· Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas
· Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
· Series 79 licensing preferred (or FINRA recognized equivalents)
· US work authorization required
